Our Chicagoland based office is currently working on several properties that substantially beat energy standards. Our projects are 99% specified as LED and we only use programmable digital controls. We are working with world-class architects and developers across the globe to create remarkable lighting and lighting control designs.

As a Designer, you will work with the Morlights staff to design and facilitate the documentation for lighting designs produced by our office. You will work with the team to develop and manage the luminaire selections, drafting, sketches, schedules, and details. As a Designer you will be exposed to a wide variety of design problems that need creative solutions. Candidates should be well-organized and self-driven with the ability to manage their time and effectively communicate with our team and clients in a professional manner.

Education & Experience

  • Have a minimum of 4 years of experience in the Lighting Design industry.
  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Lighting Design, Theatrical Lighting, Interior Design, Architecture, or Architectural Engineering
  • Be proficient in Revit, AGI32, MS Office, and Adobe Suite.
  • Have working knowledge to create lighting layouts, lighting calculations, lighting fixture schedules, lighting specifications, control zone schedules, and control equipment schedules.
  • Be familiar with energy codes.
  • Possess detailed knowledge of lighting sources, manufacturers, and fixtures.
  • Can develop and coordinate lighting details that integrate with architectural and interior systems.
  • Manage a project from schematic design, through design development, construction documentation, and construction administration, to final focusing and programming.
  • Be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Be comfortable meeting and presenting to clients.
  • Have experience communicating with the project team.
  • Be able to lead and train junior lighting designers.
  • Have onsite experience reviewing and modifying real-time design with contractors.
  • Have a strong sense of design, be self-directed, good time manager, responsible, organized, good listener, quick learner, team player, and collaborative.
  • Excellent spoken and written communications skills in US-English

Compensation

Morlights team members are generously compensated, and the benefits package includes remote-work environment, unlimited vacation, healthcare, simple IRA plan, and bonus packages. Salary is based commensurate with experience.  Salary is negotiable based on experience.
