In a sea of boutique fitness centers serving the Chicago metropolitan area, TASH Wellness manages to stand out. The premiere, woman-only personal training studio focuses on acceptance and inclusiveness, offering group, semi-private and private programs for all ages and ability levels. The gym’s lighting follows suit, differentiating the space from others, complementing its interior design, and enhancing the user experience.

Morlights capitalized on simplicity in the lighting design, using just one fixture type to make a bold statement that matches the studio’s philosophy. Suspended from the ceiling, the linear direct/indirect fixtures are wrapped in acoustic fabric that eases the sounds of loud music generated by the space’s hard ceilings, floors and walls. In addition, the fabric’s blue color matches the hue of weight racks lining the wall, tying the overall aesthetic together.

All three of the acoustic fixtures hang from one central junction box, with DALI technology minimizing the number of wires needed for control. The uplight and downlight components of each fixture can be separately controlled, avoiding glare for users working out below, and light levels can be adjusted based on the time of day or desired atmosphere, with presets for activities such as warming up and cooling down.

To illuminate the new lobby, suspended circular fixtures were relocated from the gym’s former location, eliminating the need for additional materials or budget.
