Restaurateur Michael Smylie brought a new local favorite to Evanston, Illinois with his Smylie Brothers brewhouse. The 10-barrel brewery ensures a constant flow of local craft beers to its adjacent restaurant, and its relaxed, casual environment quickly made this pub a neighborhood gathering place. Morlights worked with WRAP Architecture to provide a complementary lighting design to the renovated interiors, showcasing the establishment’s inviting atmosphere.
With a lighting design attuned to the space’s needs, Morlights showcased WRAP’s design choices and further imbued the space with warmth and character. The impressive wood and metal truss ceiling was uplighted with linear fluorescent luminaries complete with dimming ballasts to take full advantage of the historic architecture, while T5HO lights highlight both the ceiling and the seating below. We utilized a DALI-based control system as well as linked controls to the HVAC and AV systems for easy digital management. During this process, we also offered our supply-assist program, which provides quality control from specification through installation for efficient, precise implementation. Morlights’ final design was sustainable, cost-effective, and user-friendly, reaping benefits both short and long-term for the new establishment.
