A new special exhibit at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, Underwater Beauty, showcases over 100 remarkable species from around the world that embody “living art”. The exhibit explores each creature’s color, pattern, and rhythm and educates visitors on the conservation of their habitats. MorLights’ job was to complement these diverse animals by using saturated colors to enhance these creatures in their environment. This was done through rainbow lighting. As visitors explore the exhibit, custom patterns mimic the ocean floor and interactive lighting mirrors animal movement as the light changes. The key for our designers was not to overpower the natural wonder of the creatures – simply bring out their beauty even more for audiences.
