Steering a multi-faceted renovation
The Q Center, a 95-acre event and conference center in St. Charles, Illinois, is dedicated to getting all the details right for guest events. At their Fox River Ballrooms, built to host as many as 600 guests in six separate rooms, that mission took the form of new lighting technology intended to enhance guest experiences at weddings, conferences, and special events.
Working within a tight seven-week time frame, Morlights oversaw a team of architects, acoustical consultants, engineers and contractors as 20,000 square feet of new ceiling, lighting, plumbing, fire protection, electrical and structural elements were renovated in time for the venue’s next event.
Morlights’ design includes advanced controls that not only allow for endlessly customizable lighting options for each event, but offer venue staff seamless, user-friendly control of individual or multiple ballrooms at once. Complex technology underlies that ease of use: the controls are based on systems developed by NASA, with networked components driven by custom software.Hidden lighting and rigging points build in additional flexibility for large-scale events, and cove lighting lining the ceiling provides a bespoke finishing touch: customizable washes of color in each ballroom.
Morlights’ thoughtful design created crisp, clean new architectural spaces that add sophistication, polish and ease to events hosted by Q Center’s guests, from keynote speeches to blowout weddings
“The technology built into this project is a real problem-solver. It was a thrill to see those underpinnings come together to achieve such spectacular results.”—Avi Mor
