Marriott D.C.

Marriott Hotels’ rebranding initiative sought a comprehensive update to their hotels without losing the warmth their hotels are known for. We joined the hotel in their endeavor for Marriott D.C., a historic hotel in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington D.C. The hotel had been purchased by Capstone Development, with 1,175 rooms and 100,000 square feet of meeting and function space connected to the Washington Convention Center. The building’s place on the National Register of Historic Places necessitated a sensitive rehabilitation, all completed on a tight time schedule. Morlights worked with interior designer White Space to match the lighting update with the interior renovations.

Morlights’ design encompassed all new lighting for the Marriott, utilizing down lights with extensive control, as well as decorative lighting fixtures. The implementation of cove lighting came with daylight sensors, which both increased programmable options and decreased energy usage. These fast-paced renovations were completed on time and on budget, and offer an enhanced experience for the hotel’s multitude of programming and clientele.
