Opened in the early 1900s, Joe’s Seafood has been a staple of Miami Beach ever since. After the name was purchased by Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, the restaurant group opened a new location in Chicago in 2000, followed quickly by an additional Las Vegas restaurant in 2004. Morlights was called upon by architects Aria Group for the opening of both locations, creating an exciting new aesthetic for the historic restaurant that met Lettuce Entertain You’s stringent requirements.
In both locations, we removed almost all of the existing track lighting and replaced them with small aperture MR16 adjustable downlights, which greatly improved the atmosphere and provided a clean aesthetic. We coordinated our lighting with the interiors, leveraging our expertise on color media and temperatures for a complementary palette. Morlights was also tasked with lighting the restaurant’s unique coves, choosing a new linear LED product that produced a glowing effect. Our lighting design reduced heat and power amounts, and created a more efficient team since our supervision on lighting enabled the architect to focus on other tasks. Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak, and Stone Crab is now a staple of Lettuce Entertain You, with ongoing success for over two decades.
