The Shedd Aquarium’s “At Home on the Great Lakes” is a celebration of the amazing ecosystem right outside their doors. Featuring 60 different species from the Great Lakes, this exhibit offers visitors an in-depth exploration of one of the world’s most important natural resources. Morlights’ lighting design made crucial updates to the exhibit, ensuring longevity and habitat sensitivity.
Morlights overhauled the lighting levels within the exhibit, removing extraneous track heads and replacing the existing, uneven lighting with low-wattage LED lights for continuous quality. These new calibrations reduced shadow and glare, and improved graphic and signage visibility. In all our lighting, we ensured that the light exposure and heat were sensitive to the natural habitats of the animals living there. The resulting design accounts for these environmental considerations, responding with an immersive, responsive design for animals and human alike.
