There are few nightclubs that brand themselves as part dance party, part ping pong parlor. That’s what makes AceBounce special. The U.K. company chose Chicago as its first U.S. expansion, delivering an establishment with upscale amenities and refreshments coupled with some light-hearted competition. Morlights partnered with Russell Sage Studio, a U.K.-based interior designer, to bring their lighting brand into a new infrastructure and American code standards.
One of AceBounce’s priorities is creating a space that works just as well for small groups as it does for large parties. We introduced a new control system that provides flexibility for each of AceBounce’s programming needs, including its many themed events. Morlights’ design focused on usability, with an overhead track system containing color-tunable LED lamps to provide adequate light for the ping pong tables without detracting from the nightclub vibe. We also worked to integrate AceBounce’s signature glow-in-the-dark graffiti and wall-mounted sculptures into the new space, using custom architectural details and mounted fluorescent UV lights above the track systems to augment the dramatic reveal when the surrounding art is illuminated. All of these innovative touches brought AceBounce’s high design standards to its new location, quickly marking AceBounce as one of Chicago’s hottest nightlife spots.
