Designed by Studio Gang, The University of Chicago’s new residence hall is a 4,000 sf complex of three-story hubs that include residences, dining options, green space, amenities, and retail. Morlights helped the design team create a lighting and control system for both the interior and exterior of the complex using cutting-edge technology and cost effective, sustainable solutions. Safety was a major priority for the project, given the number of students living in the complex. Wall lighting became the solution due to its ability to effectively light the dorm rooms while still allowing for exposed concrete ceilings. The project is achieved LEED-Gold certification.
