Human-centric Design that Meets Client and Resident Needs

Human-centric Design that Meets Client and Resident Needs

Creating a supremely liveable experience in a residential high-rise building can be a challenge—one Morlights answers with intelligent design that balances a warm, welcoming experience for residents with a keen awareness of construction process and budgets. At Aspire Residences in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood, Morlights designers employed our design-driven value  engineering process to arrive at solutions that deliver value and human-centric lighting design.

The 275-unit building, rising 24 stories above Chicago’s streetscape and the nearby lakefront, offers residents an upscale urban lifestyle, complete with sweeping views and amenities that include modern common areas outfitted for entertaining as well as a roof deck, pub lounge, telecommuting spaces and fitness facilities. Morlights’ design carefully considers the needs of this wide array of spaces, from decorative pendants and discreet LEDs for visual impact in the common entertaining areas to lighting for safety and utility in hallways, kitchens and exterior spaces.

The building’s loft-style spaces represented additional design challenges; open ceilings meant a search for a perfect-fit overhead lighting solution and floor-to-ceiling windows created a need for careful design that considers abundant sunlight. Finding those solutions and integrating them into the building’s overall design provides a seamless, modern, residential experience for the client and those who call Aspire home.

"We believe working within real-world constraints and parameters should still result in exceptional design." - Avi Mor
